Suttons Bay High School students are getting up early to participate in the school’s new theater essentials class.

Jacob Westerhof, the district’s K-12 vocal music teacher, is the instructor for the class which will meet daily from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., before the regular school day begins.

“The idea really came out of my interview for my current position,” said Westerhof, a Muskegon native and recent graduate of music education program at Western Michigan University. “I was asked about my ‘ideal’ schedule and expressed my love for theater and fine arts as well.”
