A 61-year-old Cincinnati man was killed in a two-car crash last Wednesday, Sept. 10 in Elmwood Township.
Ronald L. Bellman was killed in the crash reported at 11:22 a.m. on M-22 near Walters Drive.
An initial investigation showed that a 2025 Chevrolet truck, operated by a 71-year-old man from Traverse City, was traveling south on S. West Bay Shore Drive when it cross the center line and collided with a northbound 2019 Honda SUV driven by Bellman. He and three passengers were taken to Munson Medical Center for treatment along with the Traverse City man. Bellman was pronounced deceased at the hospital.
Alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the crash and the accident investigation continues.
The Sheriff’s Office was assisted on scene by Elmwood Fire/Rescue, Suttons Bay Fire/ Rescue, MMR, Benzie County EMS, and the Michigan State Police.
Traffic on M-22 was closed nearly all day before finally opening at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
