Tuesday’s innocuous board agenda devolved into a shouting match in which an undercurrent of mistrust and politics spilled over.
At issue: a proposed hiring freeze recommended last week during the board’s executive committee meeting. The freeze, described as “pause,” was discussed by commissioners and supported by the majority of the board at the committee level Sept. 9.
