Northport Public School students that volunteered at Leelanau Uncaged on Saturday stepped up to the challenge and played a huge part in helping to contribute to another successful community event.

District students of all ages, primarily in middle and high school, contributed and showcased their talents in various ways, including by volunteering their time working at the festival’s children’s tent, writing pop-up poetry, and producing portrait artwork on the spot.

Northport art teacher and Leelanau Uncaged board member Jen Evans said while the festival typically has district students attend and volunteer at the festival, they made the effort to push it up a notch this year by preparing for the big day well in advance.
