Service line inspections for the Village of Empire were discussed last week by the Empire Village Council.
The village paid over $8,600 for the inspections the last time they were needed and expect that the price has risen for this round of inspections. Council member Tom Rademacher made a motion to contact PowerVac and request an excavation of 10 service line sites for inspection — the motion passed unanimously. Council member Maggie Bacon made an additional motion asking Council President Davis to contact DPW next week so that the inspections can get done in October.
An audit representative from Gabridge & Co. attended the Sept. 23 meeting to give a presentation on the village’s finances from the 2024-25 fiscal year. He noted a significant increase in long term obligations compared to the prior year. Council members questioned how to address weakness in communication, acknowledging the importance of maintaining fiscal discipline.
