To the editor:
The disaster which continues to unfold in Gaza is supported by our government in a bipartisan manner. It is beyond understanding by any reasonable adult how we can condone the murder of children let alone innocent adults. The Jewish revenge on the October attack is far beyond killing Hamas fighters. The longstanding complex problem will not be solved by killing tens of thousand Palestinians. While we, the average American goes about our lives unaffected by this conflict, we must take responsibility for the part we play. We give the Zionist government 3.5 billion dollars annually as well as weapons. Our Congress is 98% supported (indebted ) by AIPAC money, millions of lobby dollars control their decisions pertaining to Israel. The lessons of the Holocaust, which generated endless sympathy for Jews, has been cast aside by the venomous attacks on the citizens of Palestine. That our government not only approves of this ethnic cleansing but pays for it, is appalling. We must oppose our national policy by words, deeds and protests. The stated Jewish goal of eliminating two million Palestinians cannot be allowed. We Americans can and must influence this abhorrent decision. Having bipartisan support doesn’t make it right.
