To the editor:
In response to last week’s letter to the editor by Mr. Curt Rafshol: Respectfully, did you not read your own letter before submitting it? Do you not remember the denial of losing the 2020 election by the opposition party and their candidate? Do you not remember January 6, 2021, when a horde of your losing candidate’s followers were urged by him to go to the Capitol where they attacked the police and threatened our elected representatives and the Vice President because they could not take their loss in November “in stride and with no hard feelings”.
Our country was founded on peaceful protest. Demonstrations by the citizenry have strengthened not weakened our political system. Citizens must show their opposition to unjust bills and laws and must protest the misleading statements and lies told by the Administration. Freedom of speech, assembly and petition are our rights and our obligations.
