To the editor:
A letter-writer has made a big mistake (“Shameful Spectacle,” 9-25-25). Our presence on the corners of Leelanau County and our signs and flags have nothing to do with the last election. What’s done is done. We’re there to remind people that there are those (probably a majority) who want America to be as great again as the Founders wanted it to be: a democratic republic, governed by the Founders’ brilliant innovation, a balance of powers.
So, number one in our sights is Congress, which used to be The Peoples’ House, but is now the House of Trump. In the 260 years of our democracy, this is unprecedented: the complete moral collapse of the legislative Republican majority. So that, instead of doing its job of resisting and trying to correct the inevitable errors of the executive branch, it has done pretty much what it has been ordered to do. This goes in spades for our invisible congressman.
