The Leland Comets held off the Suttons Bay Norsemen on Monday night, earning a 1-0 victory in the soccer match defined by strong defenses and a handful of tense moments.
The Comets struck early, scoring in the first half on a well-executed set piece. Despite several chances from both sides, Leland’s strong defense held firm to keep the Norsemen off the board.
“I don’t think we played well at all,” Leland coach Rob Sirrine said. “We had a pretty big game Saturday, and we got back late. It was a bit of a letdown today, but the set pieces helped us. We had a couple of chances at corners, but overall, we have some things to look at on the tape and improve. We just looked tired today.”
