Journalist and travel writer Kim Schneider says she’s always believed in the power of travel — not just for the joy of connecting with others and sharing culture, but as a way to change the traveler while creating some good in the world.

“I believe that travel is really important in making us better global citizens and nicer, better people,” Schneider said. “It just all plays in. There’s this great interplay between the travel part and the support part… you’re not a tourist, you’re one of their community.”

Schneider began reaching out to travel guides in the Maasai Mara in rural Kenya during the COVID pandemic, and realized then that the connection would be about much more than travel, but a chance to make a real difference in the lives of so many.
