Leland Public School and the Verdier Circle of Friends will present “The Sound of Music” beginning next week.

Students have been working since auditions held the first week of school on the musical which is different from the film version in a plot points, song placement, and the addition of new songs to the film.

“It’s been a quick seven weeks,” director Mary Newman said. The film added the songs “I Have Confidence” and “Something Good,” which replaced the Broadway songs “An Ordinary Couple,” “How Can Love Survive,” and “No Way to Stop It,” and also altered scenes to take advantage of a cinematic setting.
