The Cleveland Township Board covered a bit of everything during their most recent meeting, including updates on the Cedar Area Fire and Rescue (CAFR) department.
Some of the most detailed discussion of the evening centered on the proposed 2026-27 CAFR budget. Township Supervisor Tim Stein explained that Cleveland Township will continue to draw on contingency funds next fiscal year to balance the fire budget, with adjustments expected on 2027-28 once some townships revise their millage rates.
“We have a real bargain,” Stein said of the township’s fire coverage. “Even with increases coming, we’re still going to be under three mills, which is very reasonable.”
