Housing professionals conference at the 11th annual Northwest Michigan Housing Summit at the Hagerty Center in Traverse City next week, Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 27-28.
“Now in its 11th year, the Northwest Michigan Housing Summit continues to serve as a catalyst for collaboration, bringing together leaders, innovators, and policymakers from across the State to address housing challenges and opportunities. As we look ahead, our commitment to advancing creative, community-driven solutions remains steadfast, ensuring a stronger housing future for Northwest Michigan.” Yarrow Brown, Housing North’s Executive Director said in a press release.
The events primary focus is expanding housing solutions across the region.
The Housing Summit will feature several updates and presentations highlighting solutions and tools for housing being used in the region, including: State of the Region’s Housing, presented by Housing North, highlights the current housing landscape of our region.
Examples of 3D Printed Housing Solutions, a practical application to this tool around housing; Ways communities can leverage housing tools like the Attainable Housing District, for small-scale housing projects; A Panel discussion with the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) and the Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA) on programs available to support housing in the region; Workshops on housing tools, solutions for developers, the zoning Atlas project, modular construction, among others; Second Keynote on Day 2 highlighting the Housing Zoning Atlas project for Region D.
The event features community leaders, housing agencies, financial institutions, and other partners all focused on expanding housing solutions across the region.
“Rooted In Community” is this year's theme with a focus on community-driven approaches to housing that aim for broad, systemic change through collaboration.
In addition to a full agenda with workshops, panels, and informational sessions, the Summit also features the Summit Awards, presenting awards to the housing champions of Northwest Michigan. For the second time, the summit will feature a Bus Tour to modular and manufactured housing, learning the specifics about each project, as well as learning about this type of construction as a housing solution.
