To the editor:
Recent letters to the editor offered “evidence” to convince us that the Biden economy is strong. Now if only the American people could be convinced! What really matters is our lived experience. Putting food on the table and paying the bills is an ever-increasing challenge for millions of families. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, prices have skyrocketed 17.6% since Biden’s inauguration. The “must have” items (Food +33.7%, Energy +32.8% & Housing +18.7%) are up even more.
In the 2020 Presidential election, many Independents decided to give ol’ Joe from Scranton a chance. They wanted a moderate and believed the country needed the stability and steadiness they hoped he could provide. The incumbent President — they were told repeatedly — would promote chaos and division, was a narcissist with xenophobic tendencies, and surely would keep mean tweeting.
