Budget talks heard by few

Over the course of the last couple months, county commissioners have been gathering weekly to prepare the county’s 2026 budget.

This is the biggest responsibility faced by the Board of Commissioners as it sets the course for spending in the coming year.

At this point, $18,011,488 in revenue has been identified with preliminary expenses of $17.7 million. Given this, you'd imagine those who calling for fiscal responsibility from the board, who are very vocal at regular board meetings — executive and regular — would show up and monitor discussion about the spending plan.
