The Glen Lake boys tennis team completed a marvelous season with a third-place finish at the MHSAA Div. 4 state championship tournament last week at the Midland Tennis Complex. “I was really proud of the guys this year. There were some moments when we could have collected and folded individually, and they did a great job growing around each other, staying strong ... It’s all about character, character development,” Glen Lake coach Mike LeVan said. “It was really wonderful to see the character growth that has happened over just the last few months. And I’m really proud of that more than anything else. “
Glen Lake’s Luke Selby and Levi Lamb captured a state championship at No. 4-doubles behind a stellar performance after defeating Jackson Lumen Christi in the final. The duo didn’t drop one set throughout the entire tournament.
“I was a little bit nervous,” Luke Selby said. “My belly felt kind of weird … I’m just going to keep training, getting better, and hopefully keep winning states.”
