To the editor:
I would like to express my extreme appreciation and gratitude for Parenting Communities of Leelanau County. I started using their program five years ago when my son was an infant. We attended playgroups as a way to socialize and have winter activities for myself as a stay at home mom, and for my son’s early development. I now have two children, ages three and five, and have continued to use Parenting Communities for play groups, mama and baby yoga, and the many other wonderful events they put on, such as the summer Street fair, Winter Family Holiday Gathering, and Families Together. These programs and events enrich the lives of so many. Early childhood, especially from birth to five years, is a critical time for brain development. Parenting Communities provides avenues for families to foster growth, exploration, and most of all, build strong relationships, which are the building blocks for a sustainable and successful future if nurtured from an early age. Parenting Communities’ services and events are free to the public, and host a staff of Spanish and English speaking individuals. Our community is so lucky to have such a caring, resourceful, and extremely important program.
