Kite surfing at Van’s Beach

Paul Andrus of Lake Leelanau is pictured kite surfing at Van’s Beach on Oct. 23. Andrus was tracking his miles on the water for the week-long fundraising event “Kiteboarding for cancer,” now called “Crest & Cancer,” held by the nonprofit “Project Koru.” The event raises money in support of Project Koru Camps for young cancer survivors. Over $30,000 was raised from the event this year, which includes the $5,000 raised by Andrus alone.
