Harriers compete at states
. Glen Lake freshman Spencer McNitt earned all-state honors Saturday with a 13-place finish at the MHSAA Division 4 state championships.

Local runners from Leland, Glen Lake, and Lake Leelanau St. Mary competed at the MHSAA Div. 4 state championships Saturday at Brooklyn Michigan International Speedway.

The Glen Lake boys cross country team narrowly walked out of MIS with a state championship, but the Lakers fell short in a runner-up finish to Holland Calvary Christian, 110-131.

“I’m proud of the boys. I thought they did an amazing job this season. They did everything I asked them to. We accomplished nearly everything we set out to do; first conference and regional title in 25 years. The best program finish ever at states,” Glen Lake coach George Drown said. “It’s going to take a lot with big shoes to fill next season.”
