Leland Community United Methodist Church announces the kick-off of their annual “Operation Christmas Child” providing children around the world the opportunity to receive what often is their first Christmas gift ever, and their first introduction to Jesus, Christianity, and the magic of Christmas.
Operation Christmas Child is a program of Samaritans Purse, a North Carolina based-nondenominational nonprofit that has provided aide to victims of war, poverty, natural disasters, disease, and famine since 1970. By making shoeboxes available to churches and organizations throughout the country to be filled with simple items like socks, school supplies, and a small toy they offer children around the world the blessings of feeling loved and knowing Jesus.
Leland Community United Methodist Church has a long history of supporting Operation Christmas Child and through the years several members of the church and community have been enthusiastic supporters of the effort.
