To the editor:

We would like to extend a very sincere and heartfelt thank you to all the fire departments, first responders, Leelanau Sheriff Dept., and all other depts and individuals who responded to the fire at our facility at Leelanau Fruit Co., on Sept. 27.

The speed and efficiency of the actions of all involved were amazing. Despite the dire-looking black smoke initially, the damage was confined to the roof. The freezer full of cherries and precious fruits was saved.
