Christian Science reading room to host Thanksgiving service

As the Thanksgiving anticipation builds, the Glen Arbor branch of the Church of Christ, Scientist will mark the holiday with its own time of reflection, worship, and thanksgiving. The service is held annually in Christian Science reading rooms around the country and offers a moment for spiritual reflection on gratitude and the freedom to worship.

Deborah Master, a longtime attendant and practitioner at the local reading room, explained that the Thanksgiving service, which will run from 10 to 11 am, will include hymns, readings, prayer, and personal testimonies of healing.

“We sing hymns and have readings from our Pastor, but in our church the Pastor isn’t a person,” explained Master. “Our Pastor is the Bible and the Christian Science textbook, which is titled Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, by Mary Baker Eddy.”
