Northport and Ann Arbor resident Barbara Stark-Nemon released her third book, “Isabela’s Way” in September, telling the story of a 14-year-old embroideress who escapes the Spanish Inquisition.
Isabela was raised Catholic, but is actually Jewish, journeying across 17th-century Europe to Hamburg, Germany.
“The Inquisition has seriously begun to affect the life of Conversos Jewish families who’ve converted to Catholicism,” Stark-Nemon said. “There’s adventure and a lot of danger and a little romance.”
