The Village of Northport discussed at its work session on Thursday, among a number of issues, potential next steps for an ongoing dispute regarding an invoice from its accounting firm, UHY Advisors Inc.
In February, UHY submitted an invoice for “additional work” relating to the annual audit of the finances of the village totaling $16,589, which was discounted 35% from $25,522. The original audit proposal was for $18,750 from December 2023.
Village manager Jered Ottewess explained to the council that the invoice was submitted prior to his tenure, which began April 21. In Ottenwess’ village report, he said that he requested assistance from the village legal counsel, Ross Hammersley, to help review all relevant documentation associated with the work performed by UHY and to help negotiate a solution.
