Fire department members opposed to CAFR merger

The Elmwood Township board shot down any idea of merging the township fire department with Cedar Area Fire & Rescue (CAFR).

The subject was on the township board’s agenda for Monday’s monthly meeting.

“It’s Elmwood Township’s department, it always felt like it belonged to this community,” Chief Keith Tampa said. “The board controls it. The board can decide whether they want to structure their department differently, whether they want to provide services on a different level.”
