G-L School Foundation removes barriers to learning

The Glen Lake School Foundation (GLSF) is launching a renewed effort this winter, aiming to broaden its support for students by raising $50,000 in community contributions. These funds will go directly towards removing obstacles that stand in the way of a student’s academic success.

Formed just over three years ago, the foundation began as a way to separate Glen Lake’s long standing scholarship funds from the school’s internal accounts. Today, it manages roughly $1 million dedicated exclusively to scholarships. However, the other part of their mission is using separate funds accumulated primarily through their annual fundraising gala and private donations, to benefit the school and students in a broader way.

“For the last three years, we’ve done a gala and raised money, usually somewhere in the realm of $20,000 to $30,000, and that money is unrestricted, which means we can use it in any way that we see fit to benefit the school,” explained GLSF president Virginia Woessner.
