To the editor:
Much has been said about the recent application to the Leland Township Planning Commission for a youth club in the Village to be run by Youth for Christ. I would like to express enthusiastic and unqualified support for the Youth for Christ center. Leland needs a place like this for young people that is safe, fun, caring and Christian.
My office is at 201 N. Main, less than a block away from the proposed Youth for Christ location. I have studied the application materials, spoken with the people involved, researched the vision and mission of Youth for Christ, and am familiar with the zoning ordinance. The proposal for a youth club is remarkably consistent with the ordinance, the neighborhood, the comprehensive plan, and the needs of our community.
