Northport Council approves site planning services

Northport Village Council voted 4-2 to approve a proposal from Influence Design Forum for site planning services at a cost not to exceed $5,850 at its regular meeting on Nov. 20. Design work is anticipated to be completed in 6-10 weeks.

The village council previously discussed at its November work session the idea of moving forward with conceptual site work for the village-owned High Street and 7th Street properties to help guide future housing development and to improve public understanding.

According to Nov. 6 village council work session minutes, village manager Jered Ottenwess reported that quotes for professional renderings ranged “from just over $5,000 for one site to $15,000-$20,000 for both sites,” with a lower cost option that may be available through student generated work. Trustees expressed support during the work session for pursuing renderings and emphasized the need to keep costs low and maintain public trust.
