Sights and sounds of the season

Three county communities marked the beginning of the holiday season with special events last weekend.

Northport went all out celebrating its annual Tree Lighting with a full day, and evening, of activities for the whole family. These include brunch with Santa and Mrs. Claus; Letters to Santa; crafts and storytime at the library; cookie and gingerbread house decorating; ornament making; Santa beard decorating; wreathmaking; a gingerbread contest; wreath making at Northport Pub and Grille; horse-drawn carriage rides and the Northport Arts Association’s Holiday Arts and Crafts Show.

Santa’s reindeer were at Around the Corner Food and Fun. Carolers filled the village streets with music and the Northport Village Voices also performed just before the lighting of the village Christmas tree.
