Npt superintendent rated ‘effective;’ contract extended

Northport Public School Superintendent Neil Wetherbee received a rating of ‘effective’ in an annual evaluation approved by the board of education (BOE) on Monday evening.

Using the state approved Marzano district leader evaluation model, the superintendent was evaluated in six different domains/categories which included: A data driven focus to support student achievement; continuous support for improvement of instruction; continuous support for a guaranteed and viable curriculum; community of care and collaboration; district core values; and resource allocation management. The board has moved away from providing individual scores of each domain, Wetherbee explained, and just provides an overall rating for the evaluation.

Wetherbee said while there were no major concerns about the current evaluation, there is an ongoing conversation about how they can take the state required evaluation system and make it more meaningful and useful to provide better feedback to the superintendent to meet the needs of the board and district.
