Pre-judge … prejudice

To the editor:

The word prejudice means to pre-judge — to judge before knowing. I suspect that Leland LightHouse, its leaders Micah and Kya Cramer, and its parent organization Youth For Christ have all been judged negatively by many of us before knowing who they are and what they actually do.

No one quoted in any news report that I’ve read has cited one thing that the Cramers or YFC have done wrong or even might do wrong concerning our kids. Yet a handful of objectors has painted them to be potential predators eager to brainwash local children into some opaque cult, and dozens of panicked parents have piled on. It’s quite possible that many have jumped to their conclusions based on something besides facts.
