Hometown Giver:
Last spring, Suttons Bay resident Jim Harrelson, 82, was honored with the Record-Eagle John Lober Legacy award for his 35 years and 40 seasons of coaching various sports at local Leelanau schools.
All for the love of the game. “I can’t express how much I appreciate it. The kids that I have coached, they gave me a reason; I’m not gonna say to live, but they gave me a reason to continue to do something that I love,” Harrelson said. “There’s no better satisfaction you can than watching the kids succeed, and that doesn’t mean coming in first. It simply means competing and doing the very best you can.”
