Recall?

To the editor:

On December 2, we received our 2025 winter Leland Township property tax bill which included a new prorated line item of $1,363.64 for the Sunset Shores Special Assessment District. The 2026 tax bill increase will be approximately $2,272 and so on with increases each year for the next 20 years. In 20 years I will 97 yearsold! Weare trappedand our home on Sunset Shores is now held hostage by the Leland Township Board. Either pay up or lose it to a Leelanau County tax sale. That is the ultimatum the Township Board has put before us. With properties in the Michigan Tax Tribunal these figures are again subject to change. For the last 10 years the figures have been all over theplace. Despitemanyobjections too numerous to mention here, the board pushed it thru. It is time to consider a recall election for all the Board members who voted in support of this atrocity as they can no longer be trusted to fairly protect our best interests.
