Stop the cruelty

To the editor:

In 1943 Holocaust victim Anne Frank wrote: “Terrible things are happening outside. Poor helpless people are being dragged out of their homes. Families are torn apart…children come home from school to find their parents have disappeared.”

This is now happening in America; horrifying stories abound. Propublica.org found that 170 U.S. Citizens have been held by immigration agents. As of 11/16, tracreports.org says 65,137 people were in detention; 73.6% had no criminal convictions. This is a huge waste of tax dollars, a nightmare for so many families and a stain on America. Stop the cruelty, please.
