Elk Rapids senior Anna Pray found her shot, scoring 11 out of 16 points in the third quarter, to defeat Glen Lake 56-42 Saturday at the Bob Schneider Elk Rapids Invitational.
“They are never going to give up,” Elk Rapids coach Mike Brown said.
Elk Rapids (3-2) led 10-9 after the first quarter, and began to pull away from Glen Lake (3-2) in the third.
The Elks scored 20 points in the third quarter to secure the win.
Elk Rapids freshman Allie Schlicker had 12 points and five rebounds, while senior Rhielynn Skrocki had nine points and six rebounds. Natasha Beebe provided nine points and three rebounds.
“We need to keep improving defensively and offensively. We have to keep playing together so that they don’t even have to think about it,” Brown said.
The Lakers (3-2) were led by junior Lydia Fosmore with 17 points and six rebounds, while sophomore Delanie Dembowske had 12 points and senior Grace Noonan had six points.
Glen Lake defeated Traverse City St Francis Friday, and the Elks defeated Kalkaska to advance to the championship game Saturday.
Glen Lake is off until Jan 6, when they host Onekama at 7 p.m., while the Elks return to the court
Jan. 2 at 7 p.m.against Inland Lakes for a special night featuring hall of fame inductees for Elk Rapids.
