Independent analysis needed

To the editor:

County taxpayers should take notice of the Board’s recent 5–2 vote authorizing negotiations to lease the County’s 36-vehicle fleet.

As Commissioner Campbell explained in his newsletter, the only analysis comparing leasing versus owning comes from Enterprise Fleet Management — the pre-selected vendor that benefits only if the County leases — while the RFP service provider likewise earns fees only when its fleet contracts are used. That may be convenient, but it is not independent, especially considering the County Administrator’s prior experience with Enterprise.
