LEELANAU HISTORY

5 YEARS AGO December 31, 2020

The Benzie-Leelanau District Health Department (BLDHD) reported two more COVID-19 deaths in the county on Tuesday. A man in his 90s and an 84-year old woman died from COVID-19, marking the sixth and seventh coronavirus-related fatalities in Leelanau County. This as the first group of residents began to receive their first dose of two vaccines to combat the deadly virus. *** The end to the year that seemed like it may never end is finally here. If there were ever a year worthy of singing “Auld Lang Syne,” confetti and popping champagne, it is 2020. Unfortunately, as with so many other long standing traditions, COVID-19 concerns have curbed customary New Year’s Eve festivities.
