Santa’s visit to Omena on Christmas Eve was last big event of the year in downtown Omena. As always, it was lots of fun, even if we were lacking the white stuff. As I look out the window now, it’s baaack. Kind of disappointing not to have a white Christmas, but at least it was safe traveling around here for those on the road locally.
Santa again drew several families who were there with three generations. Mary Stanton went to see Santa when she was growing up. Even though she lived out of town, she was back often for Christmas and took her children. Her daughter, Emily, was there with her husband, James Kohler, and their three children, Hazel, Violet, and Wallace, who have all grown up seeing Santa here in Omena.
Sharon Kalchik was back at the event for the first time in quite a few years. Sharon brought her children to see Santa in Omena every year when they were young. She came this year with her daughter, Karen Trollenberg and Karen’s daughter, Rachel. All three are adults now, but enjoyed the cookies, caroling, and seeing people they hadn’t seen in a while.
