Fisher St. Extension in VoE

Plans to extend Fisher Street in the Village of Empire, a project aimed at improving access and circulation, have hit several snags around land access and funding prompting leaders to weigh how the project should proceed.

Fisher Street, a road that not only provides access to houses but also access to storage facilities and the Cherry Republic warehouses, stops short of connecting to M-22 causing traffic issues.

The Village would need $275,000 in order to complete the extension along with access to the property owned by the Leelanau Conservancy.
