Leland boys basketball (3-3) defeated Lake Leelanau St. Mary (4-3) in a defensive affair 37-27 as a second half scoring spurt catapulted the Comets past the Eagles Monday.
“With very little practice over the last couple of weeks we were a little rusty in our first game coming back after break, but I was very proud of how we locked down on defense after the first quarter, and we were then able to close out the rest of the game by executing when we needed to down the stretch. Overall, this was a game that we can continue to build on as we move forward the second half of the season and prepare for some of the challenging Northwest Conference games on the schedule in the next few weeks,” Leland coach Ryan Knudsen said.
The Eagles took the lead 12-10 after the first quarter, before the Comets took a 17-14 lead heading into the second half.
