Law enforcement and the housing of inmates emerged as a top priority among county commissioners during their organizational meeting Tuesday.
“We need to look at our jail,” District 1 Commissioner Rick Robbins said. “The building is almost 20 years old and it’s showing its age.”
The county law enforcement center (LEC) opened in February 2008 with 72 beds. However, the average daily jail population (20) has never come close to full occupancy.
