A 16-3 third quarter dominated by Glen Lake girls basketball (5-2) led the Lakers to a critical Northwest Conference win, 40-27 over Frankfort (4-3).
“We’ve had two big wins this week against two tough conference teams,” Glen Lake coach Brad Fosmore said.
The Lakers defeated Onekama 49-35 Tuesday.
Glen Lake changed the tide in the third quarter behind an eight-point third quarter from sophomore Delanie Dembowske.
Glen Lake was down 15-16 at halftime, held Frankfort to 3 points in the 3rd quarter.
The Lakers host Kalamazoo Hackett Friday at 7 p.m., while the Panthers hope to bounce back against Evart.
Dembowske led with 14 points and nine rebounds while junior Lydia Fosmore and Laila Shimek scored eight and six points, respectively.
The Panthers were led by Ella Newbold and Riley LaVack with 10 points apiece.
Lakers nearly defeat
Glen Lake fell to Kalamazoo Hackett Catholic Prep Irish 38-37 over Glen Lake as Dembowske led with 10 points and 11 rebounds; Fosmore 6 points; Avery Flores 6 points.
Irish: Lucy Young 15 points; Leah Smith 11 points.
UP NEXT: Glen Lake (5-3, 4-0 NWC) take on the Brethren Bobcats Thursday, Jan. 15.
Glen Lake girls junior varsity defeated Frankfort 39-16 and is now 6-1 overall (4-0 NWC).
