Since its inception in 2009, the mission of the By-The-Bay Garden Club of Suttons Bay has been “to stimulate the knowledge and love of gardening; aid in the protection of native trees, plants, and birds; and participate in community beautification.”
The 2026 By-The-Bay Garden Club Judith Hoeffler Memorial Scholarship of $1,000 shall be awarded to a student attending a post-high school educational program in the fall of 2026 related to agriculture, botany, floriculture, forestry, horticulture, landscape architecture, land management/ conservation, environmental studies, and/or related fields of study.
The applicant must be a resident of Leelanau County or a graduate of any Leelanau County high school. Applicants must submit a high school transcript from their last year of school attendance, two letters of recommendation — one from school personnel; and a 300-500word essay stating how their post-high school studies support our club’s mission. Prior applicants, but not past awardees, will be considered. Applications are due May 1, 2026.
