YOU, too, can be part of the 2026 Northport Winter Carnival! Thanks to the newly formed Northport Community Events organization, the Carnival returns this year bigger and better. But, to make it a success, they need volunteers, participants, and financial donations.

All of the favorite events are back this year, and it’s not too soon to start planning to participate. Throw your Yooper Chook in the ring to compete for the Golden Broom award in the Broomball competition. You need a team of five players and a goalie. Or you and friend or relative can compete in the Milk Jug Curling Round Robin tournament. The Cardboard Sled race is another fun event, with homemade sleds and teams of one to three kids.

If your forte isn’t being on the snow or ice, look for your favorite chili recipe and start perfecting it for the Chili Cook-Off. The categories this year are traditional, veggie, white, and wild game.
