The tart cherry industry is not standing still.
That was the clear message from Cherry Marketing Institute (CMI) President Amy Cohn during her presentation at the 2026 Northwest Michigan Vineyard and Orchard Show, where growers, researchers, and industry leaders came together to discuss the future of the region’s signature crop. Cohn laid out what she described as a reset moment for the U.S. tart cherry industry focused on grower profitability and a more coordinated path forward.
“All of this work is focused on one thing: strengthening outcomes for growers,” Cohn said.
