1942 ~2024

Marcia L. Couturier, age 81, of Gladstone, formerly of Lake Leelanau passed away Monday, January 15, 2024 at OSF St. Francis Hospital. Marcia was born at home on Friday November 13th, 1942 in Lake Leelanau Michigan. She was the third child of Raymond and Ruth Flees. She was raised in Lake Leelanau where she attended St. Mary’s School. She married the late James Mikowski in 1961. They had 2 children James and Jill. 11 years later they went their separate ways and in 1975 Marcia wed Timothy D Couturier. Together they raised four more children, Smokye, Tiffany, Tricia and Stormi. She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, older baby sister Glenna Fae Flees, sister Judy Kay Galloway and granddaughter Ashley Mikowski. Marcia loved babying the babies. Many in Lake Leelanau called her Mom or Auntie M. She was a nomad in the workforce, had been involved in 4H and cub scouts, coached softball and loved crafts and spending time with grandkids and great grandkids. Marcia had a love for Lake Leelanau where she raised her children before moving to Gladstone in 1998. She still went “home” every summer after moving. She leaves behind a host of family; cousins, nephews, nieces and many lifelong friends. Survived by her loving husband of 48 years Timothy, children James (Amber), Jill (Jeff) Mikowski, Timothy/Smokye (Rochelle) Couturier, Tiffany (Mike) Pflum, Tricia Couturier, Tuesday/ Stormi (Mike) DeLongpre. Grandchildren, Lee Mikowski, Tamara Mikowski, Samatha (Andrew) Durecki, Trey Pflum, Kassidy Cosby, Piper Couturier, Koda Couturier, Ocean Pflum, and Burke Delongpre and many great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, and “adopted” children. Marcia, Mum, Auntie M will be remembered for her wit, smarts, caring, and loving nature. To meet her was to love her and she “adopted” everyone she met as family. She had a large family outside of blood and even sisters of heart. We will announce at a later date a memorial to take place in Leelanau County.
