Blight ordinance needed

To the editor:

Bingham Township residents should ask themselves, “What do I want the township to look like as we move forward?” Having lived here for 14 years, served as an elected Board Trustee for four years, and been a Parks & Recreation member for over a decade, I have considered this question often. While Bingham Township is a beautiful place to live, I believe there is a growing issue that is not being addressed.

I believe the township needs to adopt a blight ordinance to maintain the beauty we all cherish. Such an ordinance could be drafted in a way that protects owners’ concerns while ensuring properties are properly maintained.
