To the editor:
Peace through coercion is not peace. It is the threat of violence andextortion. Itisvery expensive to maintain carrier groups off foreign coasts; to bully weaker governments to bend to the will of stronger governments. And we all know that bullies aren’t really stronger if pressured to stand down. But, until then OUR tax dollars fund their threats of violence, extortion, and war. Our ‘lunch money” lines their pockets and leaves us hungrier, less healthy, and less educated.
We have the power to pressure thebully. Writeorcall Rep. Bergman, Senator Peters, and Senator Slotkin and urge them to cosponsor H.R.6915 and S.J. Resolution 3344 which prohibit U.S. funds being used for the unauthorized use of force against Venezuela and end the continuing immoral, unlawful boat strikes. Let’s call and write them to stop the violence. Let’s urge our senators to support Sen. Kaine’s Iran War Powers Resolution to stop the military buildup near Iran. Let’s demand they assume their responsibilities by reasserting their constitutional war powers and prevent another war. WE DO NOT WANT ANOTHER WAR!
