Acclaimed author/writer Molly Moynahan of Leland will debut her fourth novel in October called “MotherPerson,” a story that explores themes surrounding identity, family, and personal transformation and one that is roughly based on Moynahan’s own life experiences told through the identities of nuanced characters.

Moynahan, the author of the New York Times Notable Book “Stone Garden,” as well as “Living in Arcadia,” and “Parting is All We Know of Heaven,” has been a novelist since the 90s and has over 30 years of publishing experience. She has also served as a writing coach, a college essay expert, editor, biography and speech writer, English teacher, and as a high school academic coach throughout her time in the industry.

This past year, Moynahan had written a memoir that received a lot of positive responses after she had published chapters of it on her Substack, a publishing platform for independent writers. Her writing was noticed by a publisher on the platform who wanted to discuss her memoir work and the idea of making it into a novel or “autofiction,” which is a genre that blends real-life experiences with imaginative narrative techniques.
