Following a spring-like warm up earlier this month, a mix of wintry weather conditions in the region are anticipated in the days ahead, including the chances of possible accumulating snow into the weekend.
Eleanor Delizio, meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Gaylord, said Leelanau County can expect to see temperatures make its way into the mid 30s beginning Wednesday as cooler air will settle into the area for a while. There will be a break in precipitation chances throughout the day Thursday as the current weather system moves out of the area.
Those precipitation chances will return again late Thursday evening into early Friday morning though, and with the cooler temperatures in place, will become mostly snow. Anywhere between 3-5 inches of snow, as well as stronger wind gusts up to 30 mph at times, is expected across the peninsula during that passing system until it clears up again in the afternoon. While Saturday’s precipitation chances are expected to be slim, on Sunday morning, another weather system that could prove to be impactful will pass through the region bringing more chances of snow.
